Romy Villanueva nabs Stableford Championship With Record-breaking
Performance
When Zaldy Torres turned in his score card at the Club house
with a final score of 33 points, the Modified Stableford
Championship seemed in the bag as it bettered last year's
winning score by 1.
Almost but not quite.
Zaldy's close friend and frequent
playing partner Romy Villanueva, playing in the last group
completed his round with a remarkable 37 points to win the
point system tournament.
In a feat that may stay in
the record books for a long time, Romy took good advantage
of his handicap recording a point in every hole to obliterate
the tournament's scoring record of 32 set last year by former
member Alvin Martinez.
All top five finishers finished
above 30 points with Edgar Jabinigay at third (33 points),
Gloria Restuvog at fourth (31 points), and Jun Toledo at
fifth (31 points).
